HOUSTON-AREA FIELD NOTES / 01

HOUSTON.MOVING BIN RENTALS
& LOCAL MOVE GUIDE.

A new key. A familiar coffee mug. A whole city between the two. Plan your Houston move around the actual addresses, the building access and the things you want to find first. The bins are one part of the plan. This guide helps with the rest.

01 / BEFORE THE FIRST BIN

YOUR MOVE IN HOUSTON.
A LITTLE CLEARER.

Start with the handoffs: who provides the utilities, where your belongings can arrive, and which route makes sense on moving day.

Put utilities on the address checklist.

If Houston Water serves your new place, Houston Public Works links to residential start-or-transfer service. Confirm the provider for the exact street address before opening an account. A Houston mailing address is not, by itself, a utility-service confirmation.

Keep the service-start request with your keys, lease or closing checklist. Coordinate the old account separately, and keep any confirmation where you can find it without opening a packed bin.

Check the route again, not just once.

Houston TranStar publishes road-closure information alongside traffic incidents and high-water reports. Use current information when planning your move rather than relying only on the route you saved last week.

Recheck near departure, especially if conditions have changed. Leave room in your own schedule for a different route. A live map does not guarantee a clear road or establish the road mileage Frogbox will use.

Sort out the last few feet.

For an apartment or shared building, ask management where moving vehicles may stop, how loading access works and whether you need to reserve an elevator. Get the receiving point clear before planning how to carry bins to your door.

Confirm the equipment handoff point and access choice for each leg. Standard lobby access has no surcharge. Unit-door service is $10 per stair flight per leg or $20 per elevator leg, with no stacking. Arrange the trip inside your home separately. Keep an open-first bin for the things that turn the new place into your place. Keep your mover’s arrival plan separate from the building reservation; one confirmation does not automatically cover the other.

02 / BOTH ENDS OF THE MOVE

TWO ADDRESSES.
TWO SEPARATE CHECKS.

Houston-area coverage is measured from the Hockley origin. Each delivery and pickup address must independently be within 75 road miles. A city name or ZIP code alone does not confirm eligibility.

Road miles follow the driving route, not a straight line. This is not the distance between your old home and your new one.

First 15 miles
No distance charge for the first 15 road miles of each leg.
After 15 miles
$2 per road mile beyond 15, calculated separately for delivery and pickup.
Standard transport
Each leg costs $25 for 1–30 bins, $30 for 31–75, or $35 for 76–150. Delivery and pickup are both included in calculator and preset totals.

A distance-charge allowance is not a delivery-fee waiver. The calculator combines rental, additional weeks and standard transport. Extra distance, applicable access fees and tax are additional. Read the distance details and the transport-rate explanation.

03 / PACK YOUR ACTUAL LIFE

YOUR STUFF.
YOUR MIX.

For a Houston apartment move, count the kitchen, bookshelves and work corner before choosing quantities. Small bins help divide dense belongings into manageable loads; Large gives clothes and linens more room. Measure your actual path, then arrange suitable help for stairs and building access.

04 / QUICK ANSWERS

GOOD QUESTIONS.
LESS GUESSWORK.

Does a Houston address automatically qualify for Frogbox?

No. Each delivery and pickup address must independently be within 75 road miles of the Hockley origin. The city name, ZIP code and distance between your two homes do not establish eligibility.

Where do I start or transfer Houston water service?

If Houston Water serves the address, start with the residential service link on Houston Public Works’ Utility Billing page. Confirm the provider and activation requirements for your exact location rather than assuming the mailing city decides them.

What should I check before moving across Houston?

Check current Houston TranStar conditions, your building’s loading rules and any elevator reservation. Confirm a suitable equipment handoff point separately. Keep your confirmed Frogbox delivery details alongside your building-access notes.

Can Frogbox carry bins into my apartment?

We can bring bins to the approved unit door using your selected stairs or elevator access, but not into the rooms inside. Standard lobby access has no surcharge. Stair service is $10 per flight per leg; elevator-to-unit-door service is $20 per leg, with no stacking. Confirm each leg’s access and follow your order instructions.
